How to Check IPO Allotment Status

Where and how to check IPO allotment — registrar websites, exchange status pages, your bank and demat account — and what each status message means.

By Niva Market Watch Editorial · Published

Once the basis of allotment is finalised — normally on the working day after an IPO closes — you can check whether your application received shares. There are four places to look, and they should all agree. This guide explains each, what the messages mean, and what to do if they don't match.

1. The registrar's website

The registrar to the issue is the authoritative source. The registrar is named in the RHP and on our IPO pages. Commonly used registrars include KFin Technologies, MUFG Intime India (formerly Link Intime), Bigshare Services, Skyline Financial Services, Cameo Corporate Services, Maashitla Securities and Purva Sharegistry.

  1. Go to the registrar's IPO allotment status page.
  2. Select the company from the list. Issues appear once allotment is finalised.
  3. Search by PAN, application number or DP ID / client ID (your demat account number).
  4. The result shows the shares applied for and the shares allotted.

2. The exchange's application-status page

BSE and NSE both provide an IPO application or bid status page on their websites. Choose the issue type (equity), the company, and enter your PAN or application number. This is useful if the registrar's site is slow on allotment day, which is common for popular issues.

3. Your bank or UPI app

  • If you were allotted, the mandate is executed and the amount for the allotted shares is debited.
  • If you were not allotted, the mandate is revoked and the blocked amount is released.

Under the T+3 timeline this happens on T+2. See refunds and unblocking.

4. Your demat account

Allotted shares are credited to your demat account before listing — typically the day before. They appear in your broker's holdings or in the depository's (NSDL/CDSL) statement or app. You may also receive an SMS or email from the depository.

What the status messages mean

StatusMeaning
Shares allotted: NYou received N shares. For retail in an oversubscribed issue, N is usually one lot.
Not allotted / 0 sharesYour valid application was not selected in the lottery, or demand was fully met by others.
Rejected / invalid bidThe application failed validation — for example a PAN mismatch, duplicate, or unapproved mandate. See common rejection reasons.
No record foundAllotment may not be finalised yet, or the details entered do not match. Double-check PAN and application number.

If the sources disagree

  • Registrar says allotted but the money was released: wait until the end of T+2; if the discrepancy remains, contact your bank and the registrar with your application number.
  • Money debited but no shares by listing morning: check the depository statement, then contact your broker (as depository participant) and the registrar.
  • Funds still blocked after T+2 with no allotment: follow the escalation steps in refunds and unblocking.

What Niva Market Watch shows

We do not have access to individual applications, so we cannot tell you whether your application was allotted. Our allotment page lists allotment, refund, credit and listing dates for recent IPOs along with each registrar, so you know when and where to check.
